Yes, I know. Just ANOTHER thing us brides have to do. It never ends. But, this one’s not as daunting as it seems.
I promise.
I’m all about being over prepared. Going the extra mile to put together a shot list for your photographer and/or videographer will only make their lives easier, which in turn, gets you better photos :).
First things First
Break the shot list up into two parts
- Portraits with Family & Bridal Party pre & post ceremony
- Bride & Groom pre and/or post ceremony.
The reason I like to specify pre or post ceremony is because this also makes it easier for the photographer to keep things in chronological order and organized.
Also keep in mind, if you are doing a first look, some of the post-ceremony photos can be moved to pre-ceremony. I didn’t do a first look. So below is an example shot list if you are not doing a first look for your wedding.
Pre Ceremony Photos
Bride + pretty much everyone besides the Groom
- Bride + bridesmaids (show inspo pics if you have fun shots you want with your girls!)
- Bride + each bridesmaid individually
- Bride + siblings + MOB
- Bride + flower girls
- Bride + MOB
- Bride + sister-in-law + mother of groom
- Bride + FOB ( I did this after because I didn’t want my dad to see me until the ceremony.)
- Bride + Grandparents ( I did this after ceremony also, but you do you.)
- Bride solo portraits
Groom + pretty much everyone besides the Bride
- Groom + groomsmen
- Groom + each groomsmen individually
- Groom + siblings (+parents)
- Groom + Dad (or both parents, up to you.)
- Groom + MOB (before or after ceremony.)
- Groom + brother-in-law/sister-in-law
- Groom + ring bearer
- Groom + grandparents
- Groom solo portraits
Post Ceremony Photos
Bride & Groom with bridal party & large family photos
- B&G Full bridal party photos (have some fun with these)
- Full Family photo Grooms side
- Full Family photo Brides side
Bride & Groom Photos (woop woop!)
- Bride + Groom!
Have fun with these! Browse Insta and Pinterest ahead of time to get some pose inspiration. Then, share your inspo with your photographer AHEAD of time. Your head will be spinning with emotion on your wedding day and you won’t remember every shot you want to get. Sharing them with your photographer before the wedding day allows him or her to add them to their shot list.
